Earlier we mentioned reports of a fire at St John’s Episcopal Church – also known as ‘the church of presidents’ – in Washington.
A tweet from the DC fire department said there was a fire was in the basement.
Fire department spokesman Vito Maggiolo later confirmed to NBC News that the fire had been put out.
We don’t know what the damage is, but here’s a shot of firefighters outside the church after the fire was extinguished:
