Lady Gaga’s ‘Extremely Painful’ Breakups Served as Inspiration for ‘Chromatica’

Quarantine might suck, but there is one thing that’s kept me going through these dark days—Lady Gaga’s upcoming studio album, Chromatica.

It’s been three long years in the making, but we’re finally getting it in approximately nine (9) calendar days!

And because of that, we’re getting treated to all the goodness that comes with album promo—song clips, interviews, and the lowdown on what inspired the record to begin with.

Today, we’re getting just that, because Gaga revealed that her past relationships influenced her songs.

When Gaga chatted with Beats 1 host, Zane Lowe, she revealed that her past pain brought her back to the recording studio.

“The sound, the music, being myself. How can I take something that’s extremely painful for me and find the one piece of it that’s universally human and help somebody else? And then see what it sounds like,” she shared.

Zane also called Gaga’s album “a reclaiming of the dance floor,” to which she replied that she’s “making a dance record again.

And this dance floor, it’s mine and I earned it. And all that stuff that I went through, I don’t have to feel pain about it anymore. It can just be a part of me, and I can keep going.”

And if that wasn’t enough to snatch your wig, Gaga gave us some lyrics to a track too!

“I’m not nothing without a steady hand / I’m not nothing unless I know I can,” she said. “I’m still something if I don’t got a man / I’m a free woman.” Screaming!!!

IDK, but I can already see Chromatica saving us all from our misery. Counting down the literal hours until the her single, “Rain on Me” featuring Ariana Freakin’ Grande, comes out!
