Miley Cyrus Celebrates Anniversary Of Liam Hemsworth Tribute Song Malibu

Miley Cyrus has celebrated the third anniversary for her hit ‘Malibu’ — a tribute song to ex husband Liam Hemsworth.

On Monday, the singer posted a video to Instagram to commemorate the three-year anniversary of her song ‘Malibu,’ which was inspired by her rekindled romance with Hemsworth. The lyrics detail the couple getting back together in 2015 and picking up where they left off in Malibu, where they lived together before their 2019 divorce.

“3 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF MALIBU 🎈❤️🎈❤️🎈❤️🎈❤️🎈❤️🎈,” she captioned her post, which featured a montage of clips from the ‘Malibu’ music video as well as a series of fan reaction videos.

Cyrus released her album Younger Now in September, 2017, dedicating her song ‘Malibu’ to Hemsworth and their hometown. In November 2018, their Malibu home was destroyed in the California wildfires.

After just eight months of marriage, Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their separation on August 11, 2019.

“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” a rep for Cyrus told People. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Hemsworth moved home to Australia to be closer to family after his and Cyrus’ split. Speaking with Men’s Health Australia, The Hunger Games star shared how exercise helped him stay “balanced” in the wake of their public separation.

“This last six months, honestly, for keeping my head level and just staying balanced, I’d say exercise has been big for me,” Hemsworth said.

Cyrus is now dating Australian singer-songwriter Cody Simpson.
