A crowd of thousands gathered outside the US Consulate General in Auckland today in a show of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
Protesters said they were also standing up against police violence and racism in New Zealand.
The group kneeled together after marching through Auckland holding signs with slogans like “I can’t breathe” and “The Real Virus is Racism”.
Hundreds more joined protests and vigils around the country, with the NZ Herald reporting a man tied himself to the fence at the US Embassy in Wellington, where about 500 protesters had gathered.
