Queen ‘Castigated’ Prince Harry Over ‘Rude’ Comment About Her Dresser Angela Kelly

Prince Harry copped a ‘castigating’ from Queen Elizabeth over a comment he made to her long-time dresser in the leadup to the 2018 royal wedding, a new report claims.

According to the Mail on Sunday, the Duke of Sussex “used offensive language” about Angela Kelly after she was unable to meet Meghan’s “sudden” request to access her wedding tiara for a hair trial.

A source tells the publication Harry was “firmly put in his place” by his grandmother after Kelly — her longtime staffer and confidante — informed Her Majesty of his “downright rude” outburst.

This report follows the publication of an extract from royal biography Finding Freedom, which claims Harry felt the Queen’s dresser was “deliberately dragging her feet”.

“The book’s version of what happened would not be everyone else’s recollection of events,” a source tells the Mail on Sunday.

The publication’s sources tell a different story, suggesting Harry and Meghan “wrongly misinterpreted” Kelly’s response to their request.

Meghan had flown her wedding hairdresser in from Paris for her hair trial and asked Kelly for access to the tiara, which was kept in Buckingham Palace.

However, the monarch’s dresser informed her she would need to make an appointment to do so, as stipulated by protocol surrounding the Queen’s crown jewels.

“They’re kept under very tight lock and key. You can’t turn up and demand to have the tiara just because your hairdresser happens to be in town,” the source explains.

On learning of Kelly’s response, Harry was “furious” and is accused of ringing other palace staff to “put pressure on [Kelly] to bend the rules”.

“Harry and Meghan may have wrongly interpreted being told she couldn’t have immediate access to the tiara as a snub, but Angela was following Palace protocol,” a source adds.

Reports of a pre-royal wedding “tiara row” surfaced in 2018, though at the time it was claimed the Queen had knocked back Meghan’s first tiara of choice.

The Sun reported the request was denied because the tiara’s origins couldn’t be determined, and there were “concerns” it originated from Russia.

“Meghan had her heart set on this tiara with emeralds and Prince Harry hit the roof when they were told it was impossible for her to wear it,” a source claimed.

“There was a very heated exchange that prompted the Queen to speak to Harry. She said, ‘Meghan cannot have whatever she wants. She gets what tiara she’s given by me’.”

However, Finding Freedom authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand hose down that claim, saying there was no tiara-related disagreement between Her Majesty and the duchess.

The Sussexes spoke about the process of selecting Meghan’s bridal tiara — Queen Mary’s diamond bandeau — from the Queen’s collection in an audio guide recorded for an exhibition about their wedding.

“I was very fortunate to be able to choose this gorgeous Art Deco style bandeau tiara,” Meghan recalled.

“Harry and I had gone to Buckingham Palace to meet with Her Majesty the Queen to select one of the options that were there, which was an incredibly surreal day as you can imagine.”

Harry admitted he “shouldn’t have really been there”, but called the gesture an “incredible” and “very sweet” loan from his grandmother.

“Every girl’s dream is to be able to try on a tiara and, funnily enough, it was the one that suited the best, the one that looked the best on you without question,” he added.
