In a promo clip for an upcoming interview with SiriusXM Hits 1′s The Morning Mash Up, the 44-year-old spoke lovingly about her two sons, which came as a surprise to the hosts who, like many, thought Sia had only adopted one child.
“I actually adopted two sons last year. They were both 18 — they’re both 19 years old now. They were ageing out of the foster care system. Yeah, and I love them,” she revealed.
The ‘Chandelier’ singer also admitted that the current COVID-19 pandemic has been hard for her sons, but they are riding it out together as a family.
“They are both finding it pretty difficult, one moreso than the other,” Sia shared. “But they’re both doing things that are really good for them right now, that are really helpful. They’re really doing a lot of educational stuff that’s good for them.”
It was in a GQ article back in January that the singer first revealed she had become a mother through adoption.
Sia made the news public when she discussed her working relationship with DJ Diplo, who along with Sia and British rapper Labrinth make up the supergroup LSD.
“Much of our relationship is just being spent trying not to have sex so that we wouldn’t ruin our business relationship, because he’s super-duper hot,” she told the magazine. “This year I wrote him a text, and I said, ‘Hey, listen, you’re like one of five people that I’m sexually attracted to, and now that I’ve decided to be single for the rest of my life and I just adopted a son, I don’t have time for a relationship. If you’re interested in some no-strings sex, then hit me up.'”
Sia, whose full name is Sia Furler, was married to filmmaker Erik Lang for two years before their split in 2016.
